Your Great Cuisines

Your Great Cuisines

I love the dishes that you cook

Their tempting and mouth-watering look

Their tasty and delicious lure

That causes me to beg for more.

Your white vinegar sautéed fish

Stands at the top of my wish list

For such gives pleasure to the tongue

And keeps the ageing pepped and young.

Another of my favourite too

Is your oxtail cooked in barbeque1

My appetite I can’t conceal

When such fine stuff comprise the meal.

Sweet are your omelets, fluffy and light

I relish each and every bite

Their very special gourmet taste

Makes it hard e’en crumbs to waste.

Your salmon cooked with little spice

And served with “Uncle Bens” wild rice

Provides for me a healthy feast

Of very little starch and grease.

I am the first and last to take

A portion of your “Shake and Bake.” You will recall I oft times begged

To eat again those crumby legs.

You know, my love, how much I cherish

Your teriyaki chicken dish

Such delicately prepared meat I love to eat and eat and eat.

Those lamb chops cooked in gourmet sauce

Is a very delicate repast

Oh I partake so sumptuously

Of this amazing delicacy.

Though seldom cooked, your tripe and beans

Is another of your great cuisines

When seasoned well with tropical spice

It’s nice to eat with plain white rice.

Sweet tortilla with gaucamole paste

Has a very extraordinary taste

And when my mind to old México turns

This is the dish for which I always yearn.

Of all the dishes I now state

I can’t omit my rib-eye steak

Which many a hard-pressed Saturday night

Made dinner such a quaint delight.

These are not all but they are enough

To demonstrate the tasty stuff

That your great hands have ably cooked

And upon which I am now hooked.

“Barbeque” – refers to a particular sauce used  in cooking and not a meal cooked outdoors over open fire.
