The Renaissance

Renaissance

You have set ablaze within me

An ever raging fire

And as long as life shall be

It shall never hence expire.

I promise you my darling

To give this cause my all

To keep the fire blazing

With a flame that will enthrall.

The brilliance of this flame

Has grown brighter with each year

And the glory of its fame

Has spread both far and near.

This ever raging flame

Has touched the lives of many

And the consecrated aim

Is not to exclude any.

It would be cold and cruel

Not to robe you, friend, in praise

When you’ve given so much fuel

To keep alive this blaze.

Let us keep this fire burning

It is a task for two

For you and me my darling

There’s work for us to do.
