Teenage Pregnancy

Teenage Pregnancy

Beneath her breasts that rising mound

So big and stiff and round

Is not a treasure heap of pearls

For little boys and girls.

Within her womb that foetus there

Demands increasing care

And long before the day of birth

It can steal a couple’s mirth.

With pregnancy comes change of life

And complications can be rife

And without a mature mind to guide

The forces will indeed collide.

This stretch is not for boys and girls

It can put you in a dizzy swirl

And leave you there to whine and cry

As you watch your youthful days go by.

Oh think of it – planned parenthood

Carries with it a world of good

So, friend, before you take it on

Make sure you have a solid plan.

So many lives are ruined today

Who dared to walk that callous way

Who put aside on dusty shelves

The promising future of themselves.

Oh look around you friend and see

Boys and girls who’ve lost their glee

Because too early on in life

They choose to live like man and wife.

Devoid of help they couldn’t recover

From the baneful shock of youthful lovers

The youths who held such promising dream

Wasted away and lost their steam.

And some of their offspring today

Not brought up in the proper way

Have become involved in criminal rows

That society cannot dare allow.

What great men they could otherwise be

Outstanding men of high degree

If their parents were grown women and men

Who could rear them up and nurture them.

Quite costly is that grand affair

A baby and its daily care

And when all my friend is said and done

Such care does cost a very large sum.

From infant to school leaving age

Is a long time dancing on life’s stage

And think of all the others things

To help them grow their own two wings.

Oh do no run the awful risk

Of putting your name on failure’s list

You may never get a chance again

To redeem yourself my noble friend.

Put off the crave for parenthood

Until you have the proper goods

There is no bliss to take it on

And then descend into forlorn.

Enjoy your youthful years my friend

For they will not return again

And you may run the awful risk

To spend a lifetime without bliss.

And when in old age looking back

Reflecting on the many hard knocks

You may then very well conclude

That youthful lust has left you nude.
