Life’s Circle
The world sits on a circle friend
And as you know such has no end
And in one circuit all is bound
And what goes around will come around.
An unjust act you did today
Will come again someday your way.
Just when the act departs the thought
The same returns to pierce the heart.
Your conscience friend, may not be bothered
By unkindness meted out to others,
But one day while you are still alive
The same will in your sphere arrive.
The wickedness you have done or did
Becomes the steam beneath the lid
And you are bound to face the heat
In a moment when you can’t retreat.
The traps you set and plots designed
To overthrow and undermine
Shall entrap you when you least expect
And somehow cause you to reflect.
The nasty little games you play
To put your fellows in disarray
Shall in full force return to haunt
And terrorize and lash and taunt.
The strife you set in motion friend
Will not by your design just end
But somewhere on the circle of time
It returns and thence its author binds.
Every bad thing that you do
And every vice that you pursue
Will return to you someday your pound
At some point when it comes around.
Your cruel actions may cause tears
And subject many to despair
But that mean deed that you have done
Will confront you somewhere along the run.
The mercy that you never show
To that errant thoughtless folk or foe
Will when you search for it someday
From your presence run away.
The troubles that you made for others
Be it a sister or a brother
Will at some point on the circuit friend
Come ‘round and settle at your end.
If ever you think that it suits you
To lie on others and leave them “blue”
Your hour of sadness too will come
And like your victim make you glum.
Whatever it is you choose to do
Remember it will end with you
For such a thing will turn and turn…
Until its likeness you discern.
So friend, be careful how you act
For whatever substance such may lack
Will hence affect not just another
But will also come to be your bother.
So now my friend, do what is good
The things that inspire brotherhood
And you will never ever rue
The good things that you say and do.
As the course of life you daily run
Do know for sure your day will come
When the evil that you did with pleasure
Will return to you in fullest measure.
