Jamaica’s Usain Bolt

Jamaica’s Usain Bolt

“The greatest athlete ever lived”

Is the title that they gave and give

To that man of record speed

Who would to none, his title cede.

For when this man gets on his way

That’s where he ends all talk and play

For he executes each race with skill

While the crowd looks on, in awe and thrill.

With strides akin to a galloping horse

Or a deer that would be made a corpse

Fleeing from some beast of prey

Who would its victim, nab and slay.

“Lightning Bolt” it is the name

Endowed upon this son of fame

For when he strikes he strikes with force

Upon each and every, racers’ course.

Between the points from start to finish

Time flashes by and with speed diminish;

The strident athlete moves so fast

Each race appears, as but a blast.

And ah, Great Bolt possesses the knack

When he gets out there upon the track

To get the crowd to lose its mind

As he leaves his challengers behind.

So graceful are the strides he makes

As he executes and demonstrates

The unique talent he possesses

To thrill the stirred, the buoyant masses.

All woven in Bolt’s skill to run

Is the talent to make his sport a fun

His movement and his gracious strides

Have won spectators, to his side.

And he has for himself designed

A mystifying pre-race sign

That he shows to all before get-go

That causes adrenaline to flow.

With torso tilted to one side

As though he’s in betwixt a slide

He points one hand towards the sky

As though a lightning bolt, is nigh.

Within the Bird’s Nest stadium there

When he in China first appeared

Showcased to all the world, the land

That indeed produced this unique man.

In London he repeats the same

Those magnetic acts that brought him fame

And gave the best of what he had

To make his fans, and country glad.

And he on Rio de Janeiro’s soil

Reaped for himself a heap of spoil

Reclaiming more of what he had

Those golden medals in a wad.

And true my friend, it’s not a myth

A living legend is who he is

A great achievement for so few

Of such endowment ever knew.

Oh yes, the golden boy stands tall

And he the world and all enthrall

By his majestic aura and spell

That comes from what he does so well.

He entered through and closed the gate

At nineteen point one nine and nine point five eight

For none has beaten that record yet

That this famous son, has run and set.

For each and every glorious rap

He puts Jamaica on the map

As a special place on mother earth

That to many famous men, gave birth.

Ah, yes, the world must now behold

Our Usain draped in black and green and gold

The colours of our nation state

That produces many, many greats.
