“The Mystery of the 4th Century Papyrus Unravelled and De-Mystified” (eBook to be published on May 5, 2014)

The testimony of Jesus Christ is on trial in the international tribunal of religious and public opinion. The question of fact to be determined is whether or not the Messiah was wedded. If the 4th century papyrus is considered the smoking gun or the piece of incriminating evidence, an acquittal is assured because the document favours the case of the accused and what is long believed about his marital status.

______________________________

I dare say the 4th century papyrus contains enough information to confirm or dispute whether or not Jesus Christ was married. It is amazing that despite the fragmented state of the document it contains enough substance to confirm the truth of its content. Much of the document and dialogue are lost but ironically, the truth is preserved!

______________________________

The claim that Jesus Christ was married is an assertion of humongous proportions as this claim serves to contradict the fundamental and substantive teachings of the Holy Bible and the long held and popular belief that no human bride was lucky or righteous enough to have the Lord’s hand in secular marriage. It is an assertion that is worth addressing lest a fiction is allowed to perpetuate and survive in time as a fact. It is a fundamental statement as it certainly undermines the long held belief that Jesus Christ died a chaste bachelor.

______________________________

To use eight lines of fragmented sentences to undertake the task of blunting such a forceful emerging belief would seem at best an impractical demonstration of audacity. Ironically, a close and inspired look at the contents of the document proves one thing, if nothing else, and that is, the woman so identified in the text did not share a romantic relationship with Jesus Christ and was not his wife.

______________________________

The Prophet Isiah prophesied that Jesus Christ would have died an unmarried and celibate eunuch. The prophet has indeed put the marital status of Jesus Christ beyond doubt or challenge!

______________________________

The 4th century papyrus contains potent and cogent pieces of evidence to support the truth of what was discussed in the scene it captures as it relates to the marital status of Jesus Christ. The papyrus is capable of proving the truth of its own content with great certainty. The pieces of statements contained in the dialogue are enough to tell the story of the whole.

______________________________

The truth of the dialogue captured in the 4th century papyrus is corroborated by parallel scenes drawn from the Holy Scriptures and the Jewish culture in the time when Jesus Christ walked the earth. The wealth of information in the Holy Scriptures on the life, ministry, engagements and general activities of Jesus Christ is extremely helpful in bringing clarity to the document.

______________________________

The 4th century papyrus represents a 21st century re-evaluation, re-examination and re- affirmation of the testimony of Jesus Christ. The discovery of the document may long be remembered as facilitating one of the most fundamental revisions of the life, ministry and doctrine of Jesus Christ. Strange enough, or not so strange at all, the fragment of dialogue as captured in the 4th century papyrus only serves to confirm what we already know!

______________________________

For anyone to understand the dialogue recorded in the 4th century papyrus he must first understand the ministry that Jesus Christ introduced, the life-style that Jesus Christ and his disciples led and the doctrine he preached as recorded in the Holy Scriptures.
